FW13, Flowers, Friends & Some Juice in Paris

I can’t believe it’s only been two weeks since FW13 market week in Paris. Since then we’ve been to Austin and San Fran and the revelry of Paris seems long behind us. I’m already missing the skinny sidewalks and croissants!

For the FW13 season we worked with Valery Demure, whose showroom and clients (including Aesa, Swash, and Monique Pean) we absolutely adore. It was a thrill getting to show our new collection alongside such great lines.

The seasons seem to move so fast we hardly have time to relish in a new collection… I can’t believe we’re already thinking about Resort! So I’m pushing pause to highlight some of my FW13 favorites below. I can’t wait to wear the “Conversation On Cool” collar necklace with rust braid and we’re very into the structured T purses (Kathryn loves the leopard, while I want the graphic beaded):

As always, visiting with good friends is the highlight of visiting Paris for market week, especially our favorite NYC transplants Jenny & Tara (of The Sporting Project), who recently launched a line of cold press juices (they’re incredible!) with the guys behind the famed Paris healthy cafe and hangout, Bob’s Kitchen:

Set up in the oyster bar La Celeste Mary (we returned for an awesome dinner on our last night!), the bright space – brimming with floral arrangements by Taylor of Fox Fodder Farm) was a delightful place to hang when we weren’t working:

Catching up with friends extended into the wee hours of the morning… It just wouldn’t be Paris if it didn’t!

Miss the city and these ladies already!

The collection is being shown at the wonderful Valery Demure showroom…

Lizzie Fortunato FW13 Market…which means Kathryn and I will have lots of time for missioning around.

And when we get tired of wandering we’ll be fueling up at The Sporting Project (our friends who brought Fad Radish to Paris) & Fox Fodder Farm’s pop-up juice and flower shop at Le Mary Celeste (just written up about on Vogue.com here). Can’t wait!

Delaware Birthdays

It was a week of birthday celebrations for my homegirls! Kate, Taylor, & Jenny, three of my favorite friends from Delaware (and no strangers to A Fortune Found) had birthdays this week.

Incredibly, all three of these beautiful and talented gals have their own businesses – doing what they love everyday and getting paid to do it.

Kate’s an amazing set & interiors decorator, who decked out the downtown bar, The Leadbelly, and runs The Family Band Traveling Photobooth with her two brothers. Her creativity never ceases to amaze me!

Taylor’s a fabulous florist, creating spectacular arrangements for some of the coolest stores and restaurants in New York, and installations for numerous runways shows during fashion week.

Jenny recently launched The Sporting Project (with our good friend Tara Gilson) and left us for Paris, where the creative agency hosted a week-long pop-up restaurant with New York favorite, The Fat Radish.

So inspired by these three and wishing them very sweet birthdays and a wonderful year ahead… can’t wait to see what they all do next!

Pop-Ups in Paris!

Remember our friends Jenny & Tara (formerly of 3.1 Phillip Lim) who founded the Sporting Project — a Paris-based creative agency that we talked about here?

Well, they’ve collaborated with the cool kids behind The Fat Radish, one of our favorite restaurants in NYC to create a week long pop-up restaurant just steps down from our Rue des Gravilliers apartment in the beloved Bob’s Kitchen space.

The girls have transformed the juice bar and lunchtime cafe into a candle-lit sanctuary and Ben, Phil & Nick of The Fat Radish have been cooking up a storm. SP + FR is a match made in heaven and positively a highlight of Paris Fashion Week.

The pop-up has attracted the likes of Garance Dore, Caroline Issa, Colette, & Vogue (which booked out the space for a CFDA dinner on Friday night). Couldn’t be more proud of these gals!

The only thing that rivaled the stellar Fat Radish fare is the pop-up photo booth outside, manned by Kate & Pat Dougherty of The Family Band Traveling Photo Booth.

We’ve known these two since elementary school (Pat’s a killer photographer – check his work out here; and Kate’s an art director who we’ve talked about here), and love them to death. And they turned Rue de Gravilliers into quite the carnival soliciting guests, passersby and off-duty cops to pose for a picture:

And I think Kathryn and I have found this year’s Christmas card:

Couldn’t have had more fun at the Sporting Project & Family Band’s Paris Pop Ups. Love all these creative Delaware kids (+ you Tara!) doing cool things!

SP & FB, well done & thank you!

54 Rue des Gravilliers

We’ve been in Paris!

We’re back on Rue des Gravilliers – home of Bob’s Kitchen & The Sporting Project / Fat Radish pop-up restaurant (more to come on that) – showing the Spring ’13 collection:

Amidst sales appointments, we’ve managed to sneak out for some serious eating, shopping, and missioning around with good friends we don’t get to see enough:

…stay posted for more!
