I’ve always raved about my friend Bernadette’s blog, Decade Diary, and have been so lucky to have had her contribute to our lookbooks, but for SS13 I had the thrill and honor of creating a capsule collection with her.
Our 10 piece collection of clutches, tote bags, and iPad-sized embroidered envelopes features a variety of Bernadette’s original illustrations transformed with signature Lizzie Fortunato techniques (like hand-weaving, embroidery, and beading) into chic leather goods.
Named SUPER NANA (French slang for beach babe), our cheeky collab features tropical flowers in metallic threads, supple ice pink leather on the back of clutches, and leather-handled, sun-kissed totes that I’m dying to carry to the beach. I couldn’t be happier with the pieces and am so grateful to Bernadette for sharing her talent!
Bernadette’s man, Andrew, also leant a major hand, photographing the SUPER NANA collection on Ford Model’s Kayley Chabot (with Alicia Yates styling, Jillian Halouska on hair & makeup, and Bernadette scouting locations & offering her stellar creative direction). Bernadette recently posted the shoot on her blog, and I can’t help but re-post… SUPER NANA truly does “Feel Like Summer”:
To top off the capsule, we’ll be selling the watercolors that informed the collaboration to stores to merchandise and sell with the collection. Fine art consistently influences my collections, so I’m delighted to have Bernadette’s beautiful work alongside our creations and the Lizzie Fortunato Spring ’13 jewelry.
Thank you Bernadette! You are immensely talented.
XO
