Indian Summer in the Catskills

This past weekend I enjoyed a much needed post-New York fashion week / pre-Paris fashion week break in the Catskills with Peter.

(L) kaaterskill falls: the highest falls in New York State and (R) Peter looking tough on Newman's Ledge, which sits 2500 feet above the Hudson Valley

We stopped for sandwiches and freshly baked cookies at the Circle W General Store, and then checked into the adorable Rose Haven Inn in Haines Falls, NY (home to the state’s highest waterfalls). For dinner we visited Curran’s Tavern, where we fueled up for our hike on the  Escarpment Trail with lots of local red wine:

Circle W General Store is a must-stop in the Catskills & Local Wine at Curran's Tavern.

Top to Bottom: Perched at the top of the Falls // The famous Kaaterskill Falls // Dancing around South Lake at the foot of the Escarpment Trail // Some inspiring land art near the South Lake trail in the Catskills

We drove back via Tivoli (on the East side of the Hudson River), where we fell in love with the quaint buildings and incredible food. I can’t wait to return and stay at the Madalin Hotel and eat at Santa Fe Tivoli.

SS12 Whirlwind

Last week after many long nights at the studio we shot our SS12 lookbook, titled “The Desert House”. We once again worked with photographer, Jason Ross Savage, illustrator, Bernadette Pascua, and floral designer, Taylor Patterson:

And we couldn’t be happier with the results:

The Kaufmann Desert House, designed by Edward Neutra in Palm Springs, which so expertly fuses practicality and high design was the primary inspiration for my new collection, where I posed the challenge of creating sophisticated, statement pieces that were simultaneously effortless and practical for the modern woman.

Rodarte’s SS11 California-influenced collection, shots of pools in Palm Springs, and The Eames House also showed up on my moodboards:

We’ll be showing the collection to press & retailers in NYC through September 20th and in Paris from September 29th through October 4th. And it will hit stores in very early 2012! Contact sales@lizziefortunatojewels.com with any inquiries.
