Goin’ to Carolina

When Laura Vinroot Poole, the glamorous owner of  Capitol and it’s chic little sister Poole Shop (conveniently located just upstairs) invited us to Charlotte for a back to school shopping event we were literally on the next flight to North Carolina.

I’d been dying to see the stores in person, which were designed around a lush two-story courtyard (complete with a “plant wall”) by Laura’s husband, Perry Poole, and which stock ridiculously luxe finds like Dries Van Noten clutches, Rodarte dresses, Balenciaga bags and Lanvin gowns downstairs and John Patrick Organic leather shorts, Aurelie Bidermann jewelry, Meredith Wendell bags and belts, Rag & Bone  sweaters, Jerome Dreyfuss satchels and jewels by yours truly upstairs.

Designers from John Patrick Organic & Meredith Wendell were also on hand last Wednesday, as were some seriously stylish Southern gals and caterers with the most unbelievable hush puppies.

Love

I’m obsessed with the Indian Paintbrush bag that we made exclusively in navy  & black lambskin for one of my favorite online shopping destinations: Totokaelo.

Other stores will be stocking the piece – sized to fit an ipad but also stunning as an oversized clutch – in classic tan, but Jill at Totokaelo specially requested the darker colors, and she couldn’t have been more dead on … LOVE.

Jill stocks some of our favorite lines (think Rachel Comey, Jil Sander, Chloe, Acne and Aesa jewelry) and styles impeccable “looks” that you can shop from (check out the LFJ patch necklaces below) :

LFJ + SUNO

A few seasons back, Kathryn asked me what my dream runway collaboration would be. I promptly said: SUNO.

Simultaneously Max, the creator of the brand that he designs with Erin Beatty, was dining with a stylist in Paris; when he asked the designer behind her necklace, she responded: Lizzie Fortunato Jewels.

And sparks flew!

Fall

While I’m crazed with SS12, Kathryn’s overseeing shipments of FW11 styles to stores:

I am obsessed with the new custom jewelry boards & polishing cloths we’re shipping with product. I also love the LFJ + SUNO hinged, enameled  pendants (I want to steal one of the peach and dark green ones for myself!)

And while I’m still in major summer mode, I can’t wait to pair those long 70′s-inspired pendants and short soldered-chain collars with acid wash cashmere (from J.Crew!) & graphic prints for Fall:
